Omega Speedmaster Automatic

The Speedmaster Reduced occupies a fascinating place within Omega's history. Introduced in the late 1980s, it was designed to bring the iconic Speedmaster aesthetic to a more compact and wearable package, combining the classic Moonwatch design language with the convenience of an automatic movement.

This example features the most desirable configuration: a black dial, stainless steel tachymeter bezel and original Omega bracelet. At 39mm, the Reduced wears beautifully on a wide range of wrists while retaining all of the visual cues that made the Speedmaster one of the most recognisable chronographs ever produced.

The dial is clean and balanced, with three recessed sub-registers, luminous baton hour markers and the distinctive broad-arrow style chronograph seconds hand. The black dial contrasts perfectly against the polished tachymeter bezel, creating the purposeful sporting aesthetic that has defined the Speedmaster family for generations.

Inside sits Omega's Calibre 1140 automatic chronograph movement, based upon the proven ETA 2892-A2 with a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module. The result is a reliable and practical automatic chronograph that offers the everyday convenience absent from its manually wound Moonwatch sibling.
